Victor Borge: Legacy

Another urban feature bearing Borge’s name is Victor Borge Plads (or “square”) in Copenhagen, christened in 2002. A statue was erected there in 2009.

Victor Borge Hall was opened in 2000 as part of the Scandinavia House, New York city’s center for Nordic culture. The starkly-lovely, 168-seat theatre hosts films, symposia, and concerts relating to all manner of Scandinavian culture.

Other honors:
  • Honorary membership, Royal Danish Orchestra--1998
  • Honorary degree, Trinity College, Hartford--1997
  • Kennedy Center Honors--1999

Victor Borge: A Centennial Celebration

A celebration to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of Borge’s birth was held from Jan 23-May 2 at New York’s American-Scandinavian Foundation. It took the form of exhibits of film clips, photos, and other memorabilia.

  1. I have seen a couple of websites that claim Victor Borge received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1993. I have even found Walk of Fame Committee notes approving of his star. (http://clkrep.lacity.org/onlinedocs/2009/09-0943_rpt_boe_4-24-09.pdf See Page 5). However, there is no evidence of his star existing. Can anyone tell me what happened? I think he should have a star. Thank you.
